DescriptionPRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
Uses creativity and sound engineering principles to support all aspects of product manufacturing including:
Maintaining and improving production processes
Developing new production processes
Maintaining and improving production equipment
Developing new production equipment, tools, and fixtures

Work with assembly and test operators, technicians, engineers, supervisors and others to establish and sustain a culture of disciplined manufacturing.

Identify and exploit opportunities to implement lean manufacturing and reduce waste.

Coordinate with all functional areas to ensure disciplined, well-controlled, lean manufacturing processes, including Safety, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Maintenance.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: All company manufacturing and test equipment, tools, software, and materials.

DIRECTION OF OTHERS: This position does not entail supervision of others; however, the person occupying this position will develop and provide direction and guidance to others regarding manufacturing process control, stabilization and optimization.

WORKING PROCEDURES:
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES, BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT AS REQUESTED BY THE INCUMBENT’S SUPERVISOR OR SENIOR MANAGEMENT.
1. Perform all duties in a safe manner in keeping with company policies and procedures.
2. Identify and exploit opportunities to eliminate waste and improve safety, quality and productivity
3. Observe and enforce all AS9100 and Quality System requirements. Participate in internal and external process audits. Define and implement corrective and improvement actions based upon audit outcomes.
4. Process Engineering
a. Develop, stabilize, and optimize manufacturing processes. Implement and sustain Statistical Process Control (SPC)
b. Effectively apply Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) methodology to permanently and effectively solve process problems. Use a risk-based approach to identify and correct manufacturing process control problems. Lead, or participate in, DMAIC-based corrective or improvement action teams.
c. Ensure all manufacturing processes are correctly and thoroughly defined and documented, and that effective process control measures are implemented
d. Own, gather and analyze relevant manufacturing performance data and metrics. Act, or recommend action, to correct and improve manufacturing processes based on data. Routinely communicate metrics, trends and other key indicators to leadership
e. Own and execute specific discrete projects tied to manufacturing process control, stabilization and optimization, applying standard project management tools and methods.
f. Participate in planning and delivery of technical training to manufacturing operators, technicians and engineers.
g. Works with automated assembly process, hardware, and software. Leverage technology to stabilize and optimize manufacturing processes. Work with information technology (IT) to develop and deploy effective tools to ensure real-time visibility into critical manufacturing processes, permitting rapid identification of, and response to, out of control situations.

5. Tool or fixture Engineering
a. Understand all applicable manufacturing equipment and tools. Lead, or participate in, trouble-shooting and equipment correction, improvement, and modification projects and initiatives. Participate in new equipment identification, evaluation, selection, bed down and implementation and sustainment.
