Summary PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Powerex, Inc., a world leader in semiconductor manufacturing and sales, is seeking a Field Applications Engineer for its Value Added Products business that includes SCRs, HV & LV IGBTs, Diodes, Hybrid and full SiC solutions primarily produced in our production lines in Youngwood, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for specific Powerex POW-R-PAK™ which is a configurable IGBT based power platform that can be used for quick and easy product feasibility testing, rapid prototyping and design validation. POW-R-PAK systems are suited for energy storage, uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), motor drives, solar, wind, photovoltaics, EV and hybrid electric vehicle applications. The power assembly is mounted on a forced air-cooled heatsink and features state-of-the-art Powerex IGBTs with low conduction and low switching losses for high efficiency operation. The POW-R-PAK includes a low inductance laminated bus structure, optically isolated gate drive interfaces, isolated gate drive power supplies, and a DC-link capacitor bank. The interface board provides simple user connections along with built-in protection features including overvoltage, under voltage lockout, overcurrent, over temperature, and short circuit detection. The role includes discussing and designing applications for operation DC bus voltages; switching frequencies below 20kHz.growth and the analysis of opportunities, providing/overseeing quotations, and interfacing with customers to understand key opportunities and support closing of orders. The candidate will also provide direction to product development team. WORKING PROCEDURES: THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT. • Visit, build relationships, and close orders with key customers and suppliers • Evaluate new markets and customer opportunities and trending digital capabilities and analytics • Develop value propositions • Analyzing opportunities, providing/overseeing quotations, and interfacing with customers to understand key opportunities and support closing of orders • Managing day to day business activities including interfacing with customers, sales team, and factory for existing business, and new opportunities. • Measured on Growth and new customer acquisition by: • Becoming the Technical liaison between Powerex device design engineers and development engineers at end customers • Assisting Customers with Device selection and interpreting data sheet technical information and application notes to the customer. • Troubleshooting problems and Failure Analysis • Assess commercial and technical viability • Communicate technical requirements to Powerex design engineers • Present proposed solution(s) to customer • Communicate commercial requirements such as schedule and price to Marketing and Sales • Stimulating Interest in New Products and Technology • Present new products to customers • Support Field Sales & Customer Visits; Webinars and conference calls • Competitive comparisons and Identification of similar products QUALIFICATIONS: • Excellent communication and organizational skills for interfacing with sales, engineering, and production • Experience in quoting and winning profitable business opportunities • Strong technical skills in power products applications including simulation (ex: Ability to produce source code for a customer’s three level application). • Ability to prioritize activities daily and the flexibility to adjust when circumstances dictate a change is required • Ability to establish reasonable project timetables and the drive to meet them • Ability to review testing instructions and develop improved methods.
